Convexity Conditions of Planar Parametric Curves and its Properties
Based on the original geometrical definition of the planar parametric convex curve, the local convexity and the global convexity on parametric curve are discussed, a few properties are obtained, and a necessary and sufficient condition is presented for the local convexity of a general planar parametric curve.
متن کاملConvexity Measure for Shapes with Partially Extracted Boundaries
Shape descriptors are used in many computer vision tasks. Convexity is one of the most widely used shape descriptors in practical applications and also one of the most studied in the literature. There are already several defined convexity measures. The most standard one comes from the comparison between a given shape and its convex hull, but there also other approaches. Independently of whether...
متن کاملVarious Types of Aesthetic Curves
The research on developing planar curves to produce visually pleasing products (ranges from electric appliances to car body design) and indentifying/modifying planar curves for special purposes namely for railway design, highway design and robot trajectories have been progressing since 1970s. The pattern of research in this field of study has branched to five major groups namely curve synthesis...
متن کاملPolyethylene Glycol Repairs Damaged Membrane; Biophysical Application of Artificial Planar Bilayer to Mimic Biological Membrane
Polyethylene glycol (PEG) is a hydrophilic polymer, known to be capable to fuse numerous single cells in vitro, to join the membranes of adjacent neurons and giant invertebrate axons, and to seal damaged neural membranes. The molecular mechanism of the action of PEG is still unknown. It is believed that PEG dehydrates membranes and enables their structural components to resolve and rearrange in...
متن کاملAn Interactive MATLAB Program for CAGD
This paper introduces a new user-friendly MATLAB based-on program for dealing with the most important curves appearing in CAGD, as Bézier and B-splines curves. Since its user interface has been carefully designed, the program is specially recommended for educational purposes and it has been successfully applied for teaching both ungraduate and graduate students. The paper also discusses the mai...
